Class2024 Year-Long Poetry Apprenticeship with Heid E. Erdrich—Winter Online Cohort
The 2024 Poetry Apprenticeship Program is a mixture of one-on-one time with Heid Erdrich, and time spent with your full poetry cohort.
Your one-on-one sessions will be tailored specifically to you and your goals. The primary reading for these sessions will be your poetry. One-on-one time will revolve around your goals for your poetry as well as considering suggested edits to your work. During these sessions, Heid will provide intensive craft instruction and feedback, but you will also be able to ask questions and discuss concerns.
Your cohort time will be either “formal” or “informal,” depending on the week. During the winter and fall terms, Heid will lead cohort time during the first two weeks of the month, providing lectures or guiding the group through poetry collections, podcasts, articles on craft, the writing life, organizing manuscripts, and more.
During the other two weeks of the month in winter and fall terms, you will meet with Heid one-on-one on a day to be determined according to your schedules. You will decide as a group how you would like to spend your time together during one-on-one weeks. One-on-one meetings with Heid will also be held over the course of the year, live online via Zoom.
These one-on-one meetings include one introductory meeting before the program kicks off in February, and one manuscript consultation session with Heid after the program concludes (and you submit your final manuscript) in December, 2024.
Your program orientation meeting is scheduled to take place Wednesday, January 24, 2024, at 6pm via Zoom. Login information will be communicated via email.
Your final public reading will be Wednesday, January 22, 2025, at 7pm online. The reading will be free and open to the public. The link will be sent closer to the date from Loft staff.
