This six-week critique-based workshop is designed to turn your works-in-progress into polished pieces through the art of written and verbal feedback. Each participant will receive a combination of laser-focused teaching artist critique and insights from fellow talented writers. By focusing on both individual and collective growth, each class will enrich your personal approach to poetry while assuring each participant's voice is heard and nurtured. Here, you will be in conversation with an engaged network of supportive, innovative poets, setting the stage for ongoing collaboration and feedback even after the course ends.

The class is also an excellent fit for poets who are comfortable with the page, but wish to become more comfortable sharing and critiquing work in a live setting. Prepare to submit your most promising writing sample for entry, and brace yourself for a transformative journey that will leave you with not just completed poems, but the reassurance you need to keep going and a community dedicated to seeing you achieve your own writing goals.

This is an advanced class that requires a submission in order to be considered for participation. Students are asked to submit the first ten pages of their manuscript (2500 words max), in font no smaller than 12, to [email protected] with "Spring 2024 Poetry Loft Workshop" in the subject line, no later than 5pm Friday, February 29, 2024. Ensure your name and contact information (email, phone number) appear on the writing sample and in your email signature. Only PDF or Word documents will be accepted; please send as an attachment to your email, NOT in the body of your email. Incorrect formats will not be accepted. Late submissions can not be considered.

Students will be notified of acceptance into the class no later than 5pm on March 15, 2024. The teaching artist will provide detailed written feedback (though not line editing) of all excerpts, to be delivered via email after the class meets, no later than two weeks from the class end date.

All Classes listed on the Loft website take place in Central Time (CT); please adjust to your own time zone accordingly.
