Publishing and Career Rectangular Graphic

Pull back the curtain of publishing and learn how to be successful as a writer, editor, or prospective publisher in this 4 week class with the queer editor and marketing director, Tobi Harper, and multi-genre author and 27-year seasoned managing editor, Kate Gale, of Red Hen Press. In this class, they will follow the path from manuscript to book as they discuss the responsibilities of each department and position in the publishing process, from editorial, design, and marketing to writers, editors, agents, and publicists - and why all of it is relevant to you as you begin the journey to publication. You’ll learn how to get published and what it takes to create a bestseller. With a mix of instruction, discussion, and group work, this class will provide a 360 view of the publishing industry while staying focused on each individual student’s career goals.
