Boundaries-Borders

In this class we'll read writers whose work examines and deconstructs the physical and metaphorical borders that shape our lives. We'll study the ways in which journalism and memoir can blend together to collapse the perceived boundaries between genres. Our discussions, reading, and writing will guide us toward creating nonfiction that reimagines our communities and their capacity to be the makers of peaceful, multicultural societies. Class readings will include essays and journalism by writers from the US-Mexico border whose work seeks to deconstruct border concepts. Please bring $3 for a copy fee.
