ClassBuilding a Poetry Chapbook
This class is for committed poets who have at least 10 finished poems and are working toward a chapbook (20-40 pages total). How do you order poems for a chapbook? What are your themes? Where are the gaps? Join a group of committed poets as we focus on building a book that is cohesive yet expansive. We’ll discuss ordering, revision, and publishing options. Classes will include discussion, in-class generative writing, peer-review, and some guidance on publishing opportunities. Each participant will set a rigorous schedule for revision and generating new work over the course of the class to make real progress on their manuscripts. Everyone will have an opportunity to have their small groups workshop an excerpt of 5-8 poems and provide encouraging feedback about the overall manuscript (order, themes, structure, etc.), as well as individual poems.
