The Care & Feeding of a Sustainable Writing Practice
What does your writing practice look like and how do you nurture it? Some people write every day while others create only when inspired. Some writers use prompts while others feel stuck when presented with an outside idea. An effective writing practice looks different for each person, but everyone faces the question of how to sustain it in our busy world. This class will provide you with strategies to fortify your writing practice by looking closely at its needs.
Thinking about our writing as akin to a living thing, we’ll work together to consider how we might care for it. Individual goal-setting, discussion of obstacles and strategies, and time for writing are the focus of this class. To help us understand the needs of our individual approaches, we’ll read essays and author interviews, generate ideas as a group, and you’ll work on building an individualized plan to keep you writing.
