Come Back to Writing
We leave writing for so many reasons. We're discouraged, or we don't have time, or we lose touch with the reasons we love to write. A writer can stop because of a big life change (a busy job, a family change), or because of a thoughtless comment from a reader, or for no reason we can explain.
But we come back. This class is here to welcome you back with gentleness, some structure, and lots of ideas and questions. In class, short readings, writing prompts, exercises, and discussions will help you suss out what gets your writing started and what makes it fit in your life. Between classes, writers will need to spend at least 15 minutes, 5 days a week on simple, assigned "experiments" with ways to re-establish a writing practice.
Sharing work in class is encouraged (not required), mainly to celebrating having written and to receive genuine encouragement from other writers. If desired, the teaching artist will give more extensive written feedback on up to 10 pages per writer.
