ClassCreating Empathy: Getting an Audience to Love Your Protagonist
Writing is all about getting inside a reader's head and heart. This class is all about how to engage a reader's empathy for your character and get them to invest in their journey. This course will discuss multiple examples of protagonists that are talented, caring, tackling personal problems, in grief, and treated unjustly. Through discussion and examples in class, we will examine how writers get inside readers' heads and hearts.
We will focus on how to engage specific age demographics and narrow in on a precise reader base. On top of this, we will also have a writing exercise to ensure that students are on the right track with applying these tactics to their own writing.
