ClassDemystifying Publicity for Authors
Publicity can often seem opaque, one-size-fits-all, or as if it just appears out of nowhere, especially to authors. If you have been recently acquired or are currently pitching your book to agents and editors, Demystifying Publicity for Authors will offer tools to help you prepare to publicize your book. Milkweed Editions marketing director—and former publicist—Joanna (Yanna) R. Demkiewicz will lead a class on publicity that feels organic, not prescriptive. From perfecting a conversational pitch to developing a social media voice and building online and in-person communities, this class will empower you to publicize your book with integrity. Featuring in-class exercises, peer workshopping, and guest author Aimee Nezhukumatathil, Demystifying Publicity for Authors will prepare writers to approach publicity, self-promotion, and publisher collaboration with confidence.
