ClassGet Real: Writing Realistic Fiction
Numbered agents with legacies, students with magical powers, a talking lion. Yes, all good stories. But they're not real; these stories can't really happen. In this class we'll dig into authors like Melanie Heuiser Hill, Jason Reynolds, Jerry Spinelli, Lisa Yee, Kate DiCamillo, and more in order to check out realistic fiction, stories that can happen in real life. Then we'll explore the essential pieces of a novel: setting, characters, conflict, dialogue, etc. Then you'll take those pieces, add more real life, and write your story. Come and GET REAL!
