ClassImage and Association
Images often work to surprise a reader. What happens when we surprise ourselves in the act of writing? How can we attune our attention to the world around us, whether it’s the noise of the street below or the flora and fauna outside the kitchen window? In this class, we will move through a series of guided free writes to activate association and juxtaposition in our images and create unexpected frameworks for emotion, events, and ideas. The generative aspect of the session will also (hopefully) dislodge each of our inner critics by helping us acknowledge the rich images that live within and beside us. A curated reading list will accompany the session.
