Loft After School 2021 Whittet

Ever wondered what it takes to create the page-turning heroes and heroines of your favorite young adult novel? Take the first step from being the reader to becoming a writer and embark on the journey. In this class, you'll explore the details to create a compelling character; the ability to smell, taste, and see your fantasy world as a sensory experience; the necessary foundation of an outline; the decision of who is telling the story; authentic dialogue; and more. Join author Aurora Whittet Best as she demonstrates her approach to complex fantasy novels and dive into myths, legends, and history to create the foundation of your next story. We will also work to overcome your own obstacles and fears and embrace the power of being a storyteller.

As well as some in-class workshopping, each student in this class will be invited to submit up to 500 words of a fantasy story for private, individual feedback from the teaching artist.
