ClassMake It Weirder: Strategies for Creative Revision
That first burst of inspiration is such a heady pleasure and it is often the part of the writing process that receives the most attention and praise. Revision, on the other hand, is frequently maligned as a necessary, difficult duty. But what if revision was also driven by sparks of insight, unlikely questions, and the thrill of discovery? In this class, we’ll respond to participants’ work by talking about what we see on the page and then brainstorming new experiments, forms, questions, and methods that will make you excited to dive into a deep, curious, and playful practice of revision.
Writers in all genres are welcome in this feedback class. You can submit a single piece of nonfiction or fiction of up to 7000 words. Poets or writers working in very short forms like flash nonfiction, micrograms, or flash fiction can submit packets of up to 5 individual pieces, though these should also be no more than 7000 words.
