This class is for teens who want to start writing fiction but aren't sure how or where to begin. Students will explore and analyze their own creative tendencies as a writer and preferences as a reader in order to get comfortable with making amorphous ideas into exciting, readable prose.

Topics addressed include idea incubation, point of view, character, plot and stakes, and strategies for cultivating new material. Students will read and discuss excerpts from a variety of stories and have opportunities for feedback on their work from the teaching artist and classmates. A great way for writers wishing to work on making their imagined dream worlds into textual realities.

This is a flex-time class that will run on the Loft's Moodle-based learning platform. You will receive instructions on logging into the class website a few days before the start date.
