Person, Place and Thing: Building an Authentic Fictional World
The old saying is that God is in the details. As writers we play a Godlike role in building believable worlds that illuminate the human experience. In this class, students will get a framework to underpin this fictional world. We'll use readings and prompts to figure out how to make characters, settings and ideas come to life.
Each week will include a reading, a craft article, a lecture, and a prompt around a particular area of interest. Students will submit short pieces of writing and critique the work of fellow students. The last week will focus on revision and tips on publication.
