ClassPitch Practice for Wordsmith (Session 1)
Attending the Loft’s Wordsmith conference in November, or just want to practice pitching your novel or creative nonfiction work? These 25-minute one-on-one sessions with Coffee House Press associate editor Lizzie Davis can provide you with feedback that can better position you to pursue publication. After making your pitch (about 5 minutes), you’ll use the remaining time with Lizzie to discuss your project, assess the publication market, and further hone and polish your pitch. This is a low-stakes, fun opportunity to sit down face-to-face to make your pitch to an editor—and then make it even stronger.
Participants will be contacted by Lizzie Davis via email once registered for a specific pitch time, which will be scheduled in 25 minute time slots between 9 a.m.–noon and 1–5 p.m. on the selected day. Although we'll do our best to accommodate exact time requests, this will work best if participants can remain flexible and open to either a morning or afternoon time slot. Participants should come prepared to give their 5 minute pitch at the start of the session. It is not necessary (or encouraged) to sign up for both pitch sessions.
