ClassWorld Building in Fiction
How does a fiction writer create a convincing world? In this class, through in-class writing exercises, readings, and discussion we will explore how to evoke a powerful reality in fiction. We will consider: the interplay between character and setting, the relationship of setting to plot, how to characterize with setting, and how to communicate emotion through description. Fiction writers of all levels will come away with a stronger sense of how to imagine a vivid, emotive place that both convinces in its depiction of a reality, and is an active part of the story.
All classes listed on the Loft website take place in Central Standard Time (CST); make sure you understand your time zone, and adjust accordingly
