Writing Exercises: Poetry and Motion
No human can exist without food, water, and safety. After that, we need a reason to get up, explore, and connect. Each class will begin with an embodied exercise, using movement to activate the writing mind. While you won't break a sweat, you will break through the writer's block that often plagues a rootless mind. It's really as simple as that.
We will move and we will write. Because this is a class led by four different teaching artists, you can expect a variety of approaches and ideas, all of them focused on generating text through an exploration of the body in space. Writing doesn't have to be mental torture. It can be meditative, exploratory, and even fun.
