ClassWriting Unplugged: Mindfulness & Writing in the Nooks of Life
Some of us, who do our best thinking while moving, feel stifled, frustrated and stuck staring at a blank computer screen. Others of us with busy work and home lives simply don't have the luxury of huge swaths of time to sit and write. Practicing mindfulness in our daily lives can quiet the mind, activate the subconscious and help us write in the small moments of our day. We can write while we walk, clean, and cook if our minds are open to being creative.
This class will offer writers tools for cultivating a mindful life where writing time does not need to be quarantined to a room, time of day or particular screen. We will practice mindful sitting, walking and eating between writing prompts using Thich Nhat Hanh's How to Sit, How to Eat and How to Walk. Prompts will be geared toward idea generation as well as flushing out those ideas into sentences. There will be time to share writing. Writers can expect to walk away with writing starts, practical tools for daily life, and encouragement to keep writing while on the go.
