ClassYou've Finished Your Book, Now What? Pitch It!
The publishing process can be confusing and intimidating, but it doesn't have to be. Each published writer goes through the same process; somewhere along the way, they just asked for help. That's what this class aims to do: help you take the next step with your manuscript with confidence.
The day will start with an overview of the publishing process and a discussion on what makes a query letter successful. We'll get into the weeds here, talking about everything you should be sure to cover (or avoid). Afterwards, you'll round robin with your classmates and your teaching artist (who is also a literary agent), and we'll give feedback on what captures our attention with your letter and where we have questions or don't need to know so much. You'll have a chance to rewrite, and we'll break for food.
When we come back, it's time for round robin #2, this time: pitching edition. You'll go around the room and give your pitch and again receive feedback from your classmates and the teaching artist. You'll have time to rework your approach. We'll end the day with a Q&A.
Bring a bag lunch.
