Manuscript CritiqueBruce Berglund—Short, Long, or Book-Length Nonfiction
Open to: Short, Long, or Book-Length Nonfiction
Word Limit: Please check with the Loft at firstname.lastname@example.org on projects more than 100,000 words
What You’ll Submit: A complete draft of your short or long-form article, or your complete or partially complete book-length manuscript.
What You’ll Get: A line-edited manuscript and an editorial letter. Line edits will suggest sentence-level changes related to clarity, word choice, and grammar as well as paragraph-level changes for improved structure and continuity. The editorial letter will point out the manuscript’s strong points and weaknesses, in matters of content, tone, and overall organization. Bruce pays attention both to the writer’s vision for the work as well as to how it will be received by readers. He can be a ruthless editor, because that is the kind of editing he seeks for his own writing. But his aim is always to help writers express their ideas as clearly and effectively as possible.
