Manuscript Critique
Savannah Brooks—Practice Pitches

Savannah Brooks joined the Jennifer De Chiara team in 2018 as an associate literary agent after interning for a year and a half. She earned her MFA, focused in creative nonfiction, from Hamline University and her BS in marketing management from Virginia Tech. As well as agenting, she works as a teaching artist at the Loft Literary Center and as a boxing instructor.

During practice pitches, she'll be focusing on how well she understands the premise of the project; how clear the points of tension, catalyzing incidences, and character development are explained; and, when it comes to nonfiction, how strong of a platform is articulated. She's happy to answer questions about the publishing process as well, so come prepared!

When you register, you'll get an email inviting you to schedule a time slot. Savannah is available on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 2-5 p.m. Central Time throughout the month of September.

Practice pitch slots are 25 minutes long. Plan plan to start your session by giving your 3-4 minute pitch, and use the rest of the time to ask questions and get feedback from Savannah. Please note that these practice pitches are intended to help you prepare your pitch so it's Wordsmith-ready.

Savannah is open for practice pitches for projects of any genre. She will not be giving feedback on the manuscript itself, just on the presentation and content of the pitch. Expect her to ask follow-up questions typical in an actual pitch session.
