In Winter in Sokcho, Elisa Shua Dusapin explores the complexity of shared identity and divided selves through the tenuous relationship of a guest house receptionist and an unexpected guest in a North Korean tourist town. As the visiting French cartoonist and young French Korean resident venture into the cold, desolate landscape, he searches for inspiration while she struggles to truly be seen.
