Ann Lowry
Ann E. Lowry has been writing since childhood. During junior high, after spending time with friends, she often returned home to sit at her typewriter—a detail that hints at her era—to pen opinion pieces on worldly matters, particularly injustices. These themes remain central to her writing today. As life led her toward practical pursuits, she earned degrees in Communication and eventually settled into academia, focusing primarily on nonfiction writing. Semi-retirement provided her the chance to pursue a long-held dream: delving into the life of her great-great-aunt. Her debut novel, The Blue Trunk, tells that story. While much of it is fictional, she relished imagining the life she wished her great-great-aunt had lived, rather than the one she likely endured. When she isn’t writing, Ann works occasionally as an organizational development consultant and teaches a class at the University of Minnesota. In her free time, she enjoys spending time in nature, cooking, playing music, reading, enjoying the company of family and friends, swimming, and taking walks with her fur baby, Loki.
