Hieu Minh Nguyen

Hieu Minh Nguyen is the author of This Way to the Sugar (Write Bloody Publishing, 2014) and Not Here (Coffee House Press, 2018), winner of the Thom Gunn Award for Gay Poetry from the Publishing Triangle. His third collection of poem Staying Still  is forthcoming from Tin House in 2026. Among his honors, Hieu has received a Wallace Stegner Fellowship from Stanford University, a Ruth Lily and Dorothy Sargent Rosenberg Fellow from the Poetry Foundation, a McKnight Writing Fellowship, a Kundiman Fellowship, and a National Endowment for the Arts Literature Fellowship. His work has also appeared in Poetry Magazine, the New York Times, Best American Poetry, the Atlantic, and elsewhere. Originally from the Twin Cities, he now lives in Oakland.
