Laura Walker
Laura Walker (she/her) is a writer and educator whose work explores nature, grief, and the things that haunt us. From Southern California by way of Flagstaff, AZ, Laura now lives in the Utah’s Wasatch Front with her wife. Laura holds an MFA in fiction from Northern Arizona University, where she also served as editor in chief for Thin Air Magazine.
Laura has worked in education since 2006, when she tutored high school English Learners, most of them freshly arrived immigrants from Latin America. She has spent the past 15 years teaching writing to college students throughout the West. She continues to teach writing courses via the Loft Literary Center and other venues, writing her heart out in between. She believes that writing is both a gift and a craft, and loves helping students push their own boundaries and explore the possibility of the written word. She particularly enjoys helping students build confidence in their writing and discover their process.
Her work is featured or forthcoming in Zone 3 Literary Journal, Cathexis Northwest, Sugar House Review, and elsewhere.
