Loren Niemi

Loren Niemi is a poet, author and storyteller whose work includes two poetry chapbooks “Coyote Flies Coach” and “Vote Coyote!”, a poetic memoir “A Breviary for the Lost”, a 2020 Midwest Book Award winning short story collection, “What Haunts Us”, and “Circus Rex” a novel of romance and catastrophe, the critically acclaimed “Inviting the Wolf In: Thinking About Difficult Stories” co-authored with Elizabeth Ellis on the value of stories that are hard to hear and harder to tell, and two books about narrative structure: “The New Book of Plots”, on useful narrative forms for oral and written stories, and “Point of View and the Emotional Arc of Stories”, both based on 30 years of teaching in the Communications and Theater programs at Metro State University and the University of St. Thomas. His is committed in his teaching to assisting poets and writers be better performers and practitioners of their craft.
