Mant Bares is a graduate of the Helen Zell Writers' Program. Her fiction has appeared or is forthcoming in Porter House Review, Fugue, and the Beloit Fiction Journal. She has been awarded the Porter House Review Editors' Prize for Fiction, judged by Carmen Maria Machado, the Frederick Busch Prize for Fiction, and a 2021 Elizabeth George Foundation grant. She has taught at the University of Michigan and with Adroit Journal and New South Story Lab. Now living in Baden-Württemberg, Germany, Mant is working on a novel-length swamp opera.
