Melanie Figg

Melanie Figg is a writer, teacher, and creativity coach from Maryland. She used to live in the Twin Cities and taught at the Loft for many years. Her award-winning debut poetry collection, Trace, was named one of the 7 Best Inde Poetry Books by Kirkus Reviews. Her writing awards include fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts, the McKnight and Jerome Foundations, and her poems, essays and reviews have been published in dozens of journals. Melanie works remotely with poets on their poems and poetry collections, and leads women’s writing retreats.

Melanie works remotely 1-1 with writers to create sustainable writing routines, manage issues like procrastination, overwhelm and perfectionism, and build more confidence and ease with writing. Her clients reach their goals of publishing, receiving fellowships, being accepted into MFA programs, and completing community art projects. Melanie brings decades of expertise so her clients succeed: she is training as a certified professional coach (CPCC, PCC), is an active member of the International Coaching Federation, and has additional training in mindfulness, and the neuroscience of effective habit formation and productivity. She is currently working on a hybrid memoir.
