Scott Guild

Scott Guild is the author of the novel Plastic, out in 2024 from Pantheon Books. His work also appears in TIME, NPR, Literary Hub, Magnet, and other venues, where he’s written about the carceral state, the climate crisis, and growing up bisexual in the 1990s. He received his MFA from the University of Texas-Austin, his Ph.D. from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, and is now a professor in Creative Writing at Marian University in Indianapolis.

A lifelong musician, Scott also completed an album version of Plastic, out now through Sony Music and North Street Records. The album is a collaboration with the musicians Cindertalk and Stranger Cat (Sufjan Stevens, Sharon Van Etten), as well as the Grammy-winning producer Peter Katis (The National). In his twenties, Scott was the lead guitarist and songwriter in New Collisions, a Boston art-pop band that toured with the B-52s and opened for Blondie.

Scott is also an advocate for prison reform, serving for years as the Assistant Director of Pen City Writers (a creative writing program for students imprisoned in Texas), and teaching at Indiana Women’s Prison.
