Shanetta McDonald

Shanetta McDonald is a writer, storyteller, and advocate whose work centers the voices and experiences of Black women and other marginalized communities. With nearly a decade of bylines in Allure, InStyle, Essence, HuffPost, and Well+Good, her essays and features explore themes of identity, health, motherhood, and culture. Her writing is rooted in the belief that stories live in the body, and that truth emerges when we are willing to listen.

She is also the founder of The Giselle Agency, a communications firm dedicated to amplifying the visibility of BIPOC, LGBTQ+, and women leaders. Currently training as a life coach, Shanetta blends narrative, advocacy, and healing in all aspects of her work. She serves on the Advisory Board of Shero’s Rise, a nonprofit empowering girls from underserved communities to lead change. Shanetta’s work, on the page and beyond, champions transformation through voice, visibility, and radical self-trust.
