Welcome to the Loft's Summer Youth program at Open Book! Join us for a week of writing and all-day creativity!
Ever wondered what it takes to create the page-turning heroes and heroines of your favorite fantasy novel? In this class, you'll explore the emotional depth necessary to create a compelling character, the ability to smell, taste and see your fantasy world as a sensory experience, the foundation of an outline, authentic dialogue, and more.
Teaching artist Aurora Whittet Best will demonstrate her approach to complex fantasy novels as she guides students to weave words into worlds.
Throughout this class, you'll enrich your fantasy world rules with myths, legends, and folklore to create the foundation of your next story. Via in-class workshopping, we'll also work together to help you overcome your own obstacles and fears, and to embrace the power of being a storyteller.
