ClassFiction in Your Fact: Experimenting and Playing with Nonfiction
Nonfiction's name almost scolds us—no fiction allowed here!—but creative nonfiction is a world in which we can play, explore, and yes, even write fictional sentences, scenes, and characters. Wait, what? How? Why? In this generative class, you'll find out.
We'll visit the building blocks of literary nonfiction, and then experiment with them, finding ways to write about reality that are hyper-creative. We'll read and discuss modern and classic works of creative nonfiction that emphasize experimentation and play, analyzing writers' techniques and applying those to our own work.
We'll also practice, writing new fragments and turning one of those into a finished, playful, experimental piece that we'll share with each other in workshop. Whether you're fully immersed in hybrid writing or brand-new to speculative and experimental nonfiction, this class is for you to learn, practice, and challenge yourself.
All classes listed on the Loft website take place in Central Time.
