ClassGet into Character: Acting 101 for Writers Ages 12 to 14
How do top Hollywood actors create characters so real you forget that they’re acting?
They build them from the inside out. In this fun, hands-on class, you won’t just learn about character-building—you’ll learn by doing. Through a mix of playful writing and acting exercises, we’ll explore the same core techniques actors use to create well-rounded, believable characters your readers won’t soon forget. You’ll dig into what drives your characters—their wants, needs, fears, goals, and secrets—and discover how those inner forces shape what they say and do.
We’ll break down how to give your characters clear goals for each scene, along with a larger purpose that motivates them throughout the story. You’ll practice crafting characters who grow and change over time, creating strong character arcs that feel relatable and real.
By the end of the day, you’ll leave with a step-by-step system for creating dynamic, unforgettable characters for short stories, novels, scripts, or creative nonfiction.
