This class covers how to focus on personal, connective writing rooted in communal experiences and shared identity. Class materials will cover character and world-building as our "in" to creating plots and structures our readers will love. This includes focusing on how identities & lived experiences shape everything from our point of view to our reactions to external stimulus, and how that shows up when creating and developing characters. This class also zeroes in on world-building, emphasizing thinking through what queer experience is in the world we are creating, whether that world is a classroom set in 2024 or a strange planet in 2178. We'll look at how a strong start and ending to a story can carry our plot where we need it to, queering our work by making it true to our own feelings and experiences while respecting and caring for others in that.

All Classes listed on the Loft website take place in Central Time.
