ClassReading and Writing Diverse Children's and Young Adult Fiction
What does it mean to write "inclusively"? If you're struggling to authentically portray diverse characters, plus identify solid mentor texts as a guide, this class is for you. Explore character, culture, compassion, and empathy with other kidlit and YA authors through course readings, creative writing exercises, and one-on-one instructor guidance—aimed to help you incorporate diversity in your work while avoiding the pitfalls of appropriation and insensitivity to marginalized communities.
