In this embodied writing workshop, participants will be inspired to explore the intersections of social justice and the speculative as inspired by the creative, emotive and deep energy of Black feminist existence. This writing journey will use breath, meditation, chair movement, oracles and creative writing activities inspired by the revolutionary and creative imagination of Black feminist feelers, Nikki Giovanni, Lucille Clifton, Octavia Butler, Audre Lorde, June Jordan, Solange and more. We will delve into our emotional and imaginative interiority so that we may unlock delicious magic on the page, our lives and the world.

This creative writing class is inspired by Junauda’s work of the “Erotics of Abolition,” practices that encourage us to liberate the ways that we have internalized our oppressions within our bodies and souls as a technology of settler colonialism, capitalism, racism and sexism. This class will allow participants to delve into embodiment and speculative writing in order to unlock delicious magic on the page for our personal and collective liberation.
