FREE SUBMISSION — Hindsight: The Untold Stories of 2020

Steven Fowler
January 5, 2021

A pandemic, protests, wildfires — 2020 will have its own chapter in every history book. But history is missing one thing:

You.

You who worked and grieved and persevered through 2020. You who married and diagnosed and graduated and protested. You who sacrificed and survived.

Hindsight is a project devoted to capturing the lives we lived last year. We’re seeking stories that show what it was like to wake up every day to a new normal — whether that means navigating emergencies as a first responder or getting married over Zoom. We're particularly interested in material that gets up close and personal with the struggles of 2020, rather than headlines or commentary on current events.

2021 brings a new year, a new decade, and new challenges. But before moving forward, we're looking back on a historic year: What is the story you will tell about 2020?

Hindsight’s content will be available in two forms: Most stories will be shared on our website; the very best submissions will be compiled into a print anthology, which will be published in 2021.

Submission Fee: None

Length: Up to 2,000 words

Deadline: Rolling

Compensation: Writers whose work is selected for the print anthology will receive a complimentary hard copy of the book, as well as a digital file.
