We have hosted literary contests since 2012, and our guest judges every cycle have their own respective criteria for judging. Guest judges will determine the winner for each category (short fiction, flash fiction, and poetry). Our editorial team then selects three to five finalists in addition to the winner of each category. Winners of the short fiction category will receive $1,000.00 and publication in F(r)iction, our triannual print collection. Finalists will be considered for subsequent F(r)iction publications as well as in our online literary journal, F(r)Online. Each finalist will also receive free professional edits on their submission.

At F(r)iction, we pride ourselves on publishing the best writing regardless of genre, style, or origin. This means that we accept work of all kinds, including genre writing and experimental literature.

F(r)iction retains first publishing rights on works published in print or online. Publishing rights revert to the author upon publication. If work has been accepted for publication in an anthology after being published in F(r)iction, we simply ask that authors credit F(r)iction as the original publisher. We do our best to nominate many of our writers for awards, prizes, and other honors. Before we submit our writers’ work to any organization or publication, we ask their permission to do so.
