Ivory Black and The Gravity of Love by Brian Duren
If you’re interested in writing and publishing novels, then I encourage you to enroll in Peter Geye’s Novel Writing Project (NWP). I enrolled in the first one and was delighted with everything I got out of it. Writers (e.g., Sarah Stonich, Ben Percy, and Emily St. John Mandel), editors, and agents visited our classes and provided valuable information about writing as a career, the publishing world, the submission process, etc.
The critiques that I received from the other students and Peter (his rank among the best I’ve seen from any Loft instructor) helped me improve the first draft of my novel, The Gravity of Love, and have more confidence in my writing. Most important, I developed relationships with Peter and NWP students who, more than three years after our course ended, have continued to read my work and support me.
I recently signed a contract with a publisher for Ivory Black, the novel that I completed days before I started the NWP, and will sign a contract in the next few days for the publication of The Gravity of Love. Both of those novels benefitted from critiques that Peter did after the NWP ended. Enrolling in the NWP will help you build the community you need to succeed.
