America Hart

America Hart is the author of into the silence: the fishing story (Red Hen Press, 2014; audiobook forthcoming 2019). Born and raised in Colorado, America lived in Boston and New York City before completing her PhD at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London. She joined the Creative Writing faculty at London Metropolitan University, where she designed and directed the MA Creative Writing. She has published in literary and academic journals, and received grants for fieldwork in Jamaica, Zimbabwe and Ghana, and a British Council UK?US New Partnership grant. She was a finalist for the Galley Beggar Short Story Prize 2018 and Notable Contender in the Bristol Short Story Prize 2018. Her current novel, Waiting in the Rain: The Blood Notebook, is an inter-generational tale of a mixed-race family living on a plantation in the US south. America lives in London with her partner Seraphin.
