Benjamin Shalva

Benjamin Shalva is a poet, hospice chaplain, and rabbi living and working in Baltimore, Maryland. His writing has appeared in Image, The Washington Post, Spirituality & Health, and numerous literary journals. He is the author of a poetry collection, House of Mourning (Kelsay Books), and two works of nonfiction, Spiritual Cross-Training and Ambition Addiction (Grand Harbor Press). Benjamin has led writing workshops at Soul Center Baltimore, Third Space at Shaarei Tfiloh, and Sixth & I Historic Synagogue, and has taught meditation and contemplative practice for over two decades. His teaching explores the moment when a text opens rather than closes — when writing becomes discovery. He is a best fit for writers of all levels who are drawn to the intersection of poetry, contemplative practice, grief, and healing.
