Emma Kaiser
Emma Kaiser is a Twin-Cities based essayist, author, and instructor with an MFA in creative nonfiction writing from the University of Minnesota. She is the author of three nonfiction books for children, and her essays have been published in River Teeth, the Normal School, Craft, Cutbank, and elsewhere. A fifth-generation Minnesotan, Emma is currently at work on a collection of essays on rootedness, Minnesota ecology, and homecoming. She is the winner of the Norton Writer's Prize, the Gesell Award for Excellence in Literary Nonfiction, and the Robert Anderson Award for Nonfiction. Emma seeks to foster a reading and writing practice that encourages further attention and engagement with the environment around us, believing that even the deepest internal reflection should ultimately lead us back out of ourselves.
