Jennifer S. Brown

Jennifer S. Brown’s second novel, The Whisper Sister of Baxter Street, will come out in the fall of 2024 from Lake Union Publishing. Her debut novel, Modern Girls (NAL/Penguin), was a Goodreads Choice semifinalist for Historical Fiction, a Massachusetts Book Award “Must Read,” and a USA Today bestseller. She has published fiction, essays, and satire in McSweeney’s, Fiction Southeast, the Best Women’s Travel Writing, the Southeast Review, Hippocampus, Cognoscenti, and Bellevue Literary Review, among other places. Her essay “The Codeine of Jordan” was selected as a notable essay in 2012’s the Best American Travel Writing. Jennifer has a BFA in film and television from New York University and an MFA in creative writing from the University of Washington, Seattle. She lives and teaches in the Boston area, where she is currently working on her third novel.
