Loan Le

Loan Le is an editor at Atria Books. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Fairfield University in 2014, where she later earned her MFA in fiction. Loan is eager to acquire dark, character-driven, and atmospheric upmarket and “literary plus” fiction—literary fiction with propulsive genre elements like magical realism, folklore, horror, mystery, suspense, and/or thriller. If the novel can be described as deeply psychological, genre-bending, or mind-bending, then Loan will probably like it. Her authors in these categories include Sarah Langan, Shea Ernshaw, Meredith Westgate, Jennifer Fawcett, Luke Dumas, Adam Hamdy, Arianna Reiche, Louise Candlish, Emily Austin, and Scott Alexander Howard. However, she has a soft spot for the occasional multicultural, family-focused novel with a great hook, and she's the proud editor of Carolyn Huynh and Mai Nguyen. Loan is also the author of A Phở Love Story, a YA rom-com that earned praise from NPR, POPSUGAR, Bustle, Bon Appetit, USA TODAY, and Buzzfeed. Solving for the Unknown, her next YA contemporary novel and a companion to A Phở Love Story, is slated for summer 2023. Her speculative short story will appear in Firsts & Lasts, a YA anthology that Penguin Workshop is publishing in fall 2023. She can be found at writerloanle.me and @loanloan on Twitter.
