Maren Schiffer

Maren Schiffer (b. Santa Barbara, CA) is a poet and educator currently living in Lowell, Massachusetts. She is the recipient of a 2023 Massachusetts Cultural Grant for Artists and an Academy of American Poets University Prize, selected by Jane Wong. She was a finalist for the 2021 Wisconsin Institute of Creative Writing Fellowship and a semi-finalist for the 2021 Tomaž Šalamun Prize, judged by Sawako Nakayasu. Recent works appear in Denver Quarterly, The Sonora Review, and Hot Pink Magazine's Bisexual Issue.

She teaches writing at Boston College and a poetry and collective action class at Suffolk University; she also teaches poetry and journal writing for community organizations locally and in the virtual sphere. She is currently working on a poem-essay about earnestness and a chapbook called "Picturesque Punishments." She received her MFA from the University of Montana.
