Nora Murphy

Nora Murphy believes that everyone has an important story to contribute and she values assisting others in finding the courage and the words to share theirs. She is a published author of two memoirs (University of Minnesota Press & New World Library), three children's nonfiction (Lerner, Minnesota Historical Society Press & Dream of Wild Health), as well as essays, short stories, and poems. In addition to serving as a writing mentor in grassroots community organizations and tribes, she has taught writing at North Hennepin Community College and Celtic Junction Arts Center. She holds a BA from the University of Chicago and an MFA from Hamline. She currently uses a decolonial writing workshop method that elder Louise Dunlap shared with her from, Undoing the Silence: Six Tools for Social Change Writing, by Louise Dunlap, New Village Press 2007.
