ClassShimmering Images: A Journey of Moments
Take a break from talking, working, doing, and gather round for an invigorating retreat of writing and lingering, writing and sharing, and going deeper. We'll warm up with our ""shimmering images""—recurring snapshot/flash images that appear to us repeatedly on and off the page in waking, dreaming, and daydreaming life—and begin to harvest the memories, thoughts, stories, feelings, sensations, and other sensory details to see where the intuitive trail takes us. Ideal for recharging your writing, going deeper, creating poems/snapshot memoirs as gifts, or simply to just enjoy the community and the process.
Based on the book by Lisa Dale Norton, Shimmering Images, this daylong class invites students to slow down and deepen their writing memory by memory, moment by moment. This process begins with a series of images, deepening in layers, expanding into the subconscious, where fresh images awaken and inspiration comes vividly into view. Ideal for all writers hoping to stretch and create more space in their writing through sensory details, slowing down the pace, relating deeply to the moment you are writing about and the heart of the story, capturing the essence.
