Tell Me a Story

Storytelling is one of the most powerful tools we have for connection, change, and understanding—and this workshop invites writers and artists of all levels to explore how to use it with intention. *Tell Me a Story* focuses on the fundamentals of effective storytelling while creating space for participants to practice turning personal experience into meaningful creative work.

In this interactive session, participants will discuss what storytelling is, why it matters, and how stories have long been used to educate, inspire, and build community. We'll breaks down what makes a great storyteller, including authenticity, clarity, vulnerability, confidence, and the ability to truly engage an audience. Practical tips will be shared to help writers strengthen their voice, structure their narratives, and connect more deeply with listeners and readers.

Participants will then dive into a guided writing exercise, choosing from prompts that encourage reflection and imagination—ranging from personal scars and cherished memories to moments of beauty and topics that feel urgent and necessary to tell. Writers will have dedicated time to create, followed by an optional opportunity to share their work in a supportive environment.

Instructions for Accessing This Online Class

In order to access live class meetings, you must have the Zoom application downloaded to your computer. You will also need a WiFi/Internet connection throughout the duration of your scheduled meeting and a computer with audio and video capability.
