ClassTrust Your Writing
In writing we trust: We want readers to trust the writer and writers to trust the story. For that, writers have to trust their process. But how can you when you're not sure what you're doing? This 12-session class offers guidelines to help you navigate writing or revising a manuscript in any genre. Learn the dos and don'ts of writing character descriptions, dialogue, and essential action for everyone in your story
New writers often need to learn how to use setting to the story's advantage. This class will teach you what editors look for in story place and atmophere. Learn what's needed to build tension and to eke all the story out of your story. Get tips to harness the power of point-of-view in your narrative. Discover best practices in writing endings to strengthen yours. These essential guidelines are designed to help you better engage in your writing and, perhaps more importantly, help you trust your writing process to give you the confidence to complete your manuscript.
Each student will have the chance to workshop their writing. Separate from class, the teaching artist provides a private half-hour consultation with each student.
